PURPOSE: A user gesture recognition method of a multimedia apparatus and multimedia apparatus thereof are provided to operate desired operation by accurately recognizing the gesture of a user through the multimedia apparatus.;CONSTITUTION: A control unit acquires user distance information through a first image sensor(S2001). The control unit acquires image information through a second image sensor(S2004). The control unit determines the control information of the image information and the distance information. The control unit combines the distance information and the image information(S2005). The control unit extracts feature information from the combined information.
