PURPOSE: A screen conversion control apparatus of a portable terminal is provided to automatically change a screen of the portable terminal according to a motion by sensing the motion of a user.;CONSTITUTION: A portable terminal includes a touch screen unit(160) and a control unit(110). When a motion sensing unit(180) of the portable terminal senses a specific motion of a user, the control unit turns off a screen conversion function. The touch screen unit maintains a previous screen direction of the portable terminal.
