PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing activated charcoal with high density and high porosity is provided to improve the volumetric storage capacity of gas. CONSTITUTION: Pores of activated charcoal are filled with vaporizable liquid, which is water. A specific surface area of the activated charcoal is more than or equal to 2,500m^2/g. The total pore volume of the activated charcoal is between 1 and 2g/cc. The filling density of the activated charcoal is between 0.2 and 0.4g/cc. The activated charcoal with the filled pores is finely pulverized. The finely pulverized activated charcoal is mixed using a binder to obtain a mixture. The average diameter of the finely pulverized activated charcoal is less than or equal to 0.104mm. The mixture is compressively molded. The molded product is heated to be dried.
