PURPOSE: A firmware update system using an application of a smart phone and a method thereof are provided to easily update a firmware without restriction of space and environment by updating firmware of an electronic device. CONSTITUTION: A target system(200) performs firmware update by using an update file through a communication unit. A smart phone(100) updates a firmware file through communication with a target system by using a downloaded firmware update file and transmits the updated firmware file to the target system. The target system includes a firmware storing unit(220) and a firmware updating unit(210).
