PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for preventing edge cracks on a thin plate manufactured by a twin roll strip caster are provided to improve the yielding percentage and to prevent edge cracks on thin plates by matching a gap of a rolling mill with the shape of the manufactured thin plate.;CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for preventing edge cracks on a thin plate manufactured by a twin roll strip caster comprises a filming unit(20), a defect detecting unit(30), a main processor(40), a unit(50) for controlling coolants, and a coolant injection unit(60). The filming unit installed in an outlet of an inline rolling mill films a surface of the thin plate(7). The defect detecting unit detects edge cracks on the thin plate by being transmitted with the image information. The main processor is transmitted with the information on the edge cracks. The main processor individually controls the coolants supplied to the center and edge part of the rolling mill. The unit for controlling the coolants individually supplies the coolants to a coolant supply line(82) of the edge part and a coolant supply line(81) of the center. The coolant injection unit is connected to the coolant supply lines(82) of the center and edge part.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2012
