PURPOSE: An air purifier and a method for multi-directionally controlling the quality of air are provided to detect and eliminate air pollution factors if the air pollution factors are generated from a specific direction.;CONSTITUTION: An air purifier includes a dust sensor, an operation controlling part, and an air purifying part. The dust sensor classifies the polluted degree of air by directions and measures the polluted degree of the air(S1, S2). The operation controlling part determines the operation level of the air purifier according to the measured polluted degree of the air. The air purifying part is allocated to at least two air purifying fans. The air purifying part varies the rotary speed of each fan according to the operation level of the air purifier. The air purifying part includes a filter, a fan, and a motor. The filter purifies sucked air. The fan discharges purified air through the filter.
