PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for remotely controlling home appliances using a wireless PAN(Personal Area Network) proxy apparatus are provided to automatically control controlled apparatuses by enabling a user to input a wireless PAN related command.;CONSTITUTION: When a controlled apparatus is existed in a nearby place, a control apparatus pairs with the controlled apparatus(420,430). The control apparatus controls the controlled apparatus using a wireless PAN(440). The controlled apparatus creates an XML(eXtensible Markup Language) message in order to transmit the XML message to the controlled apparatus when the controlled apparatus is not existed in the nearby place(450).
