PURPOSE: A cubical aluminum titanium nitride coating material and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to improve the performance of a cutting tool based on a hard coating material with specific crystallographic orientation.;CONSTITUTION: A coated cutting tool(20) includes a substrate(22) and a hard coating material(24). The hard coating material includes one or more aluminum titanium nitride layers. The aluminum titanium nitride layers include the single-phase structure of B1 cubic and are based on composition formula, (Al_xTi_1-x)N(x is 0.46 to 0.52 mol). The hard coating material has crystallographic orientation. If the crystallographic orientation is measured based on an XRD Sin^2 Ψ mode, the crystallographic orientation is characterized with the residual stress of -0.4GPa to 0.3Gpa, the x-ray diffraction of 1 to 14, and the peak intensity ratio of (200) to (111). The average microcrystal sizes of the aluminum titanium nitride layers are 15 to 50 nm.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2012
