PURPOSE: The use of frame caching for improving packet loss recovery is provided to inform packet loss of an encoder generating a frame based on one of shared frames stored in both an encoder and a decoder when the loss of a packet is detected through the decoder.;CONSTITUTION: A part of a video signal transmitted through a network is allocated to a packet(402). An encoder encodes a part or some of the packet using a frame(404). Frames can be composed of reference frames like an I (Intra)-frame and a P(Predictive-coded)-frame. The reference frame can be cashed in the encoder(406). The cashed frame is transmitted to the decoder(408). The frame of the decoder is cashed in a decoder cache(410).
