PURPOSE: A composition and a cosmetic composition containing Ulmi Pasta Semen ethanol extract is provided to induce pancreatic cancer cell proliferation and to effectively prevent and treat pancreatic cancer. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing and treating pancreatic cancer contains Ulmi Pasta Semen ethanol extract as an active ingredient. The ethanol extract is isolated by extracting at 50 Deg. C for 24 hours and decompressing at 45 Deg. C. The ethanol is 95% ethanol. The composition also contains pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or diluents. A cosmetic composition for preventing pancreatic cancer contains 0.01-10 wt% of the extract as an active ingredient.
