PURPOSE: A method for merging data written in a storage medium, a method for controlling a writing operation for the storage medium, a storage device using the method, a computer system thereof, and the storage medium thereof are provided to reduce a merging operation time by selectively performing merging operations based on physical and logical addresses. CONSTITUTION: A merging operation selecting unit(1301) selects a merging operation based on a threshold value and writing state information. A data reading and writing operation control unit(1302) reads data from a source area according to the selected merging operation and writes the read data in a destination area. If the writing operation is completed, a writing state information updating unit(1303) updates the writing state information about the source area and the destination area.
