The present invention relates to sustained-release preparations containing insoluble complexes of peptide compounds (eg, peptides, polypeptides, proteins, peptides, etc.). The formulations of the present invention have a high concentration of small volume of peptide compound to release the pharmaceutically active peptide compound for a long time after administration of the complex, for example one month. The compounds of the present invention can be ground or crushed into fine powders. In powder form, the complex can be formed into stable suspensions and dispersions suitable for injection. In a preferred configuration, the peptide compound of the complex is an LHRH analog, preferably an LHRH agonist, and the carrier polymer is an anionic polymer, preferably carboxymethylcellulose.
