PURPOSE: An electrode for a fuel cell containing a gas diffusion layer and a method for preparing the electrode for the fuel cell are provided to improve hydrophobicity and durability. CONSTITUTION: An electrode for a fuel cell comprises a gas diffusion layer. The gas diffusion layer includes a conductive porous carbon material and an organic coating layer formed by a covalent bond on one surface of the conductive porous carbon material. A part or whole of hydrogen contained in the organic coating layer is substituted with fluorine. The organic coating layer is a radical reaction resultant of at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a hydrocarbon compound and an organic silicone compound.
