The invention downlink (DL) and / or the uplink (UL) coded composite transport channels, provides a wireless communication method and apparatus for controlling the power of the transmitted signal by the (CCTrCHs). The base station sends signals to the at least one wireless transmit / receive via a DL CCTrCH in (WTRU) and , WTRU and transmits at least one signal to the base station via the UL CCTrCH. The base station determines whether or not discontinuous transmission (DTX) of the UL CCTrCH that controls the power of the DL CCTrCH , and is used , WTRU determines whether or not DTX of a DL CCTrCH that controls the power of the UL CCTrCH is used .
