An image interpolation based on EOD (Even-Odd Decomposition) and an apparatus using the same are presented. A plurality of input signals for interpolation are decomposed into even and odd vectors by the EOD. Different interpolation methods are applied to each of the even and odd vectors. In the present invention, we show an analytical study on two vectors and propose a new design method for the two vectors. In addition, a signal flow graph of the proposed method is provided based on the new design method, which compares the complexity with the well-known CCI (the Cubic Convolution Interpolation) method. Experiments and complexity comparisons were performed to evaluate the proposed interpolation method. The results show that the interpolation method of the present invention not only provides better image (image) quality but also reduces complexity in terms of subjectivity and objectivity than any other method currently used.
