Method and System for Managing On-line Community by Using Simulated Plant

A method and a system for managing an Internet community using a virtual plant are provided to cultivate the virtual plant by assigning points according to activity of community members, rank the community based on growth of the virtual plant, and enable the community members to buy a community item with fruit when the virtual plant is grown. An item database(310) stores community forming items including community skins and music. An item sale server(350) sells the community forming items needed for decorating the community and stores the sold community forming item to the item database if the community members buy the community forming item. A plant growth management server(330) classifies the growth of the virtual plant into several steps, and grows the virtual plant through caring action including water feeding, manure and insecticide needed for cultivating the virtual plant. A community server(340) provides the points according to the community action including bulletin board clicks, replies, popular bulletins, and the number of cooperated communities, and controls the growth of the virtual plant according to the caring action performed by the points of the community members.
