PURPOSE: A buckling restrained brace for a low-to-moderate earthquake having increased stiffness using a friction member is provided to prevent a steel core from buckling.;CONSTITUTION: A buckling restrained brace(100) for a low-to-moderate earthquake having increased stiffness using a friction member comprises a steel core, end reinforcement plates(120), a steel casing(130), end plates(140), a friction plate(150), a friction member(160), an axial force applying member(170), and an inner support plate. The end reinforcement plates are vertically coupled to both ends of the steel core. The steel casing surrounds the steel core except both ends. The end plates are coupled to both ends of the steel core and the end reinforcement plates. Bolt joint plates(141) are coupled to the tops of the end plates. The friction plate is fixed to the steel casing and the end plate. The friction member is installed between the friction plate and the steel casing. The inner support plate is coupled to the inner surface of the steel casing to prevent the steel core from buckling.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2012
