PURPOSE: A device for setting a position of an underwater vehicle by using terrestrial magnetism map information and a method thereof are provided to accurately predict a moving path of an underground vehicle. CONSTITUTION: A device for setting a position of a underwater vehicle comprises a first position calculating unit(130), a second position calculating unit(140), a position comparison unit(150), and a moving position calculating unit(160). The first position calculating unit calculates a moving vector based on a preset initial position by using an inertial navigation system. The second position calculating unit calculates at least one candidate moving area by using terrestrial magnetism value measured with a terrestrial magnetism sensor and a preset movable area preset on a terrestrial magnetism map based on the initial position. The position comparison unit decides a single moving area according to a comparison result by comparing the moving vector and the candidate moving area. The moving position calculating unit calculates a moving speed and moving distance based on the moving area The moving position calculating unit calculates a moving position by using the calculated moving speed and moving distance.
