Planar Antenna Integrated with 1-D EBG Ground Plane

PURPOSE: A one directional electromagnetic bandgap structure and a planar antenna with the same are provided to enable a user to easily manufacture a small antenna by forming a radiator of an antenna near a ground. CONSTITUTION: A fork type metal patch(313) is used for decreasing a size of a structure instead of a rectangular patch. A cured line(312) is used as a connection strip to decrease a distance between metal patches and a metal ground. The changed one dimensional electromagnetic bandgap structure includes the fork type metal patches, curve strip lines, a ground(311), and a dielectric substrate. Each metal patch and each curved strip line form a unit cell. The curved strip lines connect the metal patches to the ground.
