FIELD: machine building.;SUBSTANCE: indenter is pressed into metal surface to the specified indent depth; then, indenter is horizontally moved with continuous recording of force and scratch length. Indenter pressing is performed with quadrangular pyramid into the surface of slice of welded connection; at that, its horizontal movement and recording of scratching diagram is continued until scratch penetrates through the whole welded connection by having enveloped the base metal, heat-affected zone, fusion line and weld metal on both sides relative to weld longitudinal axis.;EFFECT: improving accuracy, efficiency and enlarging functional capabilities of the method.;2 dwg
