FIELD: physics.;SUBSTANCE: method can be realised by a self-contained radar set mounted on a ship or aircraft without radar reflection from the object but with a trace (sea surface anomaly). After detecting the trace using a radar technique, the range to the front of the trace and the bearing to the front of the trace are determined, the width of the trace is measured using a radar range gating technique. The heading of the object is determined by spatial orientation of the trace. Intensity and speed of the shock wave of the object are determined from classification features of the object. With known speed of the radar set carrier, the wavelength of the electromagnetic wave emitted by the radar set and the yaw angle when the sea surface is irradiated with the radar set, the speed of the object is calculated from the obtained parameters.;EFFECT: high accuracy of determining the speed of a supersonic object.;3 dwg
