The system (1) has a water vehicle (10) e.g. boat and surfboard, provided with a sail (20), where the vehicle and the sail are moved or displaced with respect to one another. The vehicle and the sail are schematically depicted by first and second plane of actions (101, 201) of the system, respectively. A third plane of action (301) of the system acts on a wind direction (30) that is directed towards the sail. The sail is movably placed with respect to the first plane of action such that orientation of the sail is dynamically adjusted with respect to the wind-direction. An independent claim is also included for a method for optimizing the sail speed of a water vehicle.
