The catcher has a fastening eyelet (111) for fastening the catcher to a sports device. A carbine (112) fastens the catcher to a user. A fiber bundle (101) is provided between the fastening eyelet and the carbine. A retention spacing (d1) is formed between the fastening eyelet and the carbine for the fiber bundle. The fiber bundle is released by influencing preset tension force. The fiber bundle connects the fastening eyelet with the carbine. The preset tension force is in a range between 150 Newton und 600 Newton. An independent claim is also included for a method for securing a sports device against loss during usage.
