The apparatus (1) comprises a guiding device (2) which continuously guides the extruded goods (3) at a controlled and/or measured speed, a sensor device (4) which inspects the extruded goods visually, and an evaluation device (5) which analyzes the image data provided by the sensor device. The evaluation device controls the color contrast of the image data, by comparison with the normal values, to determine the irregularities and nature of the extruded goods. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) extruded goods manufacturing plant; and (2) method for optically inspecting extruded goods.
