The timepiece has a display mechanism for displaying moon phases and comprising a circular plate (20) that carries representation of moon. The plate has an immovable cover (30) comprising a circular portion whose diameter is equal to that of the representation. The cover is placed so as to define a space between a dial (8) and the cover on a side of timepiece movement. The plate is pivoted in the space around a rotation axle perpendicular to a reference surface defined by the dial, where the axle is tangent with respect to the cover and arranged in periphery of the plate.
