A process for the preparation of a molecular sieve - adsorbent for the quantities - / shape selective separation of air, the a molecular sieve - adsorbent of the general formula (na2O)6·(Al2O3)6·(Sio2)12 + x·wh2O, wherein x 0,001 to 0,1 and w is the number of the water molecules, characterized by the steps of:(1), activates the commercially available zeolite a in the temperature range from 350 to 550°C for the removal of physically adsorbed water during a period of 3 to 6 hours;(2) it is cooled in an exsiccator for the activated zeolite under inert conditions, or under a vacuum in the range from 1 × 10–2 to 1 × 10–4 mmhg;(3) is treated with tetraalkyl orthosilicates, the cooled zeolite in a dry solvent in the concentration range of from 0,1 to 1,0 w -% tetraalkyl orthosilicates, is dissolved, during a specified time period in the range from 4 to 8 hours under continuous stirring;(4), the solvent are obtained by conventional techniques for reuse back;(5) the treated zeolite is dried in air...
