The door (1) has a locking device for opening and closing the door, where the door and an openable side wall portion of a lift cabin are mechanically locked such that a ramp cooperates with the side wall portion for actuating the locking device to open the door. A locking lever (12) is blocked against unintended returning of the ramp during opening of the door, and a frame (2) includes a filling (3) with smooth tabular plates directed to a side of a floor. Posts (4, 5) for door wings (30, 31) are fastened at a hollow base profile (7). An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a movable cabin of a building lift.
