The sensor (1) has a sensor shaft (7) made of transparent material i.e. glass or plastic, immersed partially into a sample medium. The sensor shaft is designed as a tubular body with an outer surface (17), and an electrolyte-filled interior (8) is formed to surround an inner shell surface (16). A marker (31) is arranged between the electrolyte-filled interior and the outer shell surface, where the marker is selected from digits, letters and symbols, so that marker yields identification. The sensor shaft is connected to a pH sensitive glass membrane (5). An independent claim is also included for a method for identifying a sensor for determining measured variable in a liquid measuring medium.
