It is an application process for the application of a silver layer (20) on a surface (10a) of a substrate (10) made of steel and, in addition, a reactor (40) is described. The application process comprises the steps of: placing a silver layer (20) to a substrate (10), and thermal bonding of the silver layer (20) and of the substrate (10). The reactor (40) is used for carrying out a defined process and has an interior of the reactor (45), in which at least a part of the surface (10a) of the substrate (10) in a silver layer (20) by means of a thermal connection (30) is fastened.
