The device (10) has a flexible board (11) mounted on a bottom portion of a door. A first side (12) of the board is provided with an adhesive layer (14) for fastening on the door. The flexible board is made of noise-absorbing material. A second side (13) of the board is placed on a scratch-stable surface. The adhesive layer is completely extended over the first side of the board. The adhesive layer is covered with a strippable protective film (15). The board completely covers the bottom portion of the door. An independent claim is also included for a method for protecting a door against scratching by a pet animal.
