The exciter-generator has a rectifier region (GRB) provided for rectification of voltages. An exciter (EM) is provided with a rotating excitation field on an eccentric shaft, and consists of an excitation winding or permanent magnets and a generator winding that is provided on a rotary carrier element. A synchronous generator (SG) includes a double-sided shaft connection unit for unilateral placement of the carrier element of the exciter. A preliminary transmission (VG) is characterized in a single or multi-stage design with differential gears or drives and a power collector shaft. The exciter-generator includes variable input speed and network-capable stable output frequency.
