Aqueous alkyd resin dispersion, comprises: (a) at least one alkyd resin based on polyol, polybasic carboxylic acid and fatty oil, or free, natural and/or synthetic fatty acid; (b) at least one fatty acid polyglycerin ester as an emulsifier; and (c). Independent claims are also included for: (1) preparing the aqueous alkyd resin, comprising adding the components (a), (b), and (c), and homogenizing the mixture; and (2) an aqueous alkyd resin paint, comprising (a), (b), (c), (e) additives for coating of metallic, mineral and/or plastic surfaces, (f) optionally at least one inorganic or organic pigments, and (g) optionally at least one polymer dispersion, which is prepared by the emulsion polymerization of olefinically unsaturated organic compound.
