The method involves forming a group (10) of logical systems (A-E), and forming another group of physical systems that accommodate the logical systems. The logical systems of the former group are indicated by consideration of power requirements of the logical systems. The physical systems of the latter group are indicated by consideration of capability of the physical systems. The logical systems of the former group are assigned to the physical systems of the latter group according to an assignment rule that considers indication of the logical and physical systems. An independent claim is also included for a device for assigning number of logical systems to number of physical systems in a computer system.
