The device (2) has a particle oscillator (17) for generating a particle beam (30) of electrical charged particles. A cystal undulator (16) produces electromagnetic radiation of countershaft length along a middle crystal undulator beam shaft (26). The middle crystal undulator beam shafts (22,26) of undulators (6,16) are arranged such that the particle beam passes through the undulator (16) and then through the undulator (6). An independent claim is included for method for generation of electromagnetic radiation.
