The tool has a processing-side cutting plate (8) i.e. cutting insert, for processing an inner contour of a rotor drum for a gas turbine engine, where the rotor drum includes rotor disks welded with each other. A base plate (5) orthogonally moves away from a tool carrier, and a plate-shaped cutting plate attaching unit is telescopically extensible from the base plate by a spindle drive that is driven by a tool carrier. An intermediate plate (6) is guided in the base plate and linearly drivable by a threaded spindle (9).
