The method involves placing a ship, in which a pipe (3) runs through a ship bottom (6) over an aperture i.e. bore hole (1). The ship is filled with curable mass e.g. cement reinforced with fibers. The ship is sunk above the aperture such that the pipe sits on the aperture. The curable mass is distributed around the pipe. A downward opened container is evacuated relative to environment, so that the container is adhered on sea bottom. The pipe is closed by a butterfly valve after the curable mass is partly cured. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for closing an aperture lying below a water surface (2) a suction box for use as a suction bell in a method for closing an aperture.
