The biogas outlets are respectively arranged in a second front wall of the fermentation chambers, opposite to the associated port. The biogas system comprises a biogas collecting pipe (13) arranged outside the second front wall, extending over several fermentation chambers. Plant for producing biogas by fermentation of biomass (6), comprises several adjacently arranged fermentation chambers that are sealable in a gas-tight manner, which are respectively connected to a biogas system by a port loaded with biomass, which is arranged in a first front wall, and by a biogas outlet. The biogas outlets are respectively arranged in a second front wall of the fermentation chambers, opposite to the associated port. The biogas system comprises a biogas collecting pipe (13) arranged outside the second front wall, extending over several fermentation chambers, which is connected with the biogas outlets by branch lines. Each fermentation chamber exhibits at least one exhaust opening (19) in its second front wall. The biogas system is provided with an exhaust system comprising an exhaust collecting pipe (14), which is arranged outside the second front wall, and is connected with the exhaust openings by branch lines. A control gear is present along the second front wall of the fermentation chamber, outside the fermentation chamber, which extends over all the fermentation chambers, along which the biogas collecting pipe and/or the exhaust collecting pipe runs.
