The element has two trough-shaped panel elements (1, 2) vacuum-tight connected with each other by an edge connection under formation of an evacuated hollow chamber (3). One of the panel elements includes a flat or a flat cover plate (4), and an edge side (5) is jointly rotated at the cover plate, and an outwardly angled flange-like collar (6) is connected to the edge side. The collar is oriented parallel to the cover plate and aligned as an edge connection vacuum-sealed opposite to the other panel element, where the panel elements are made of chemically hardened glass and metal. The evacuated hollow chamber is filled with filling material selected from silica and/or glass beads. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an insulation element.
