The unit (1) has a drive element driving an oil pump and/or a cam shaft, where the drive element is connected relative to a motor case (3). A pre-mounted output unit (6) is coupled to a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine (2). The pre-mounted output unit comprises outer spline spur gears and ring gears, which are toothed inside a pre-mounted subunit. The output unit is sealed opposite to the motor case, where the output unit comprises drying current components arranged outside the motor case. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling a drive unit.
