Producing a tubular component (1) using metallic tubes, preferably steel tubes, comprises placing front sides of the tubes with different wall thickness on each other, and welding with each other in blunt joints, where at least one metallic tube (1.1) exhibiting a thicker wall thickness than a metallic tube to be welded at the front side in the blunt joints, is processed by cutting at its tubular ends of blunt joint sides in such a manner that its wall thickness via a length is reduced to a measure of at least 1/50 D towards the tubular ends of the blunt joint sides, where the measure is 90-140% of the thinner wall thickness of the metallic tube to be welded, and D corresponds to the outer diameter of the metallic tube with the thicker wall thickness. An independent claim is also included for the tubular component of the metallic tubes, preferably steel tubes of different wall thickness, which are welded together at the front side in the blunt joint.
