The sleeve (1) has recesses (2) provided on sleeve surface for receiving water (6) squeezed in a shoe press, where the sleeve surface is faced at a fibrous material web. The recesses are formed as blind elongated holes whose longitudinal extension is 1.2 times larger than a transverse extension. A base surface of the elongated holes is formed in longitudinal and transverse directions in a planar manner. An open area of the recesses has 35 percent of the sleeve surface. Velocity of the fibrous material web amounts to less than 700 meter per minute.
