The transparent polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) composite plate (1), comprises a transparent core (5) arranged between two outer PMMA plates (3, 4). The core includes hydrogenated water glass and the PMMA composite plates comprise a circumferential sealing element (6) on its edges, and is obtained from the hydrogenated water glass after a discontinuous casting process. The sealing element excludes an air contact of the core, and is a lacquer or a bonding. The plates form a cavity in which the water glass is filled in a flowable form and hardened.
