The device has a connector i.e. cable, connecting a set of shining devices, where the shining devices are formed as structural elements that are designed in form of candle, star, lamp, incandescent lamp, ball, tree and Christmas object. A set of point-like shaped light sources e.g. semiconductor luminous elements such as LEDs or LED modules, are arranged along the connector. The shining device comprises a set of elements such as incandescent lamp, fluorescent lamp, halogen lamp, LED or organic LED. An object is fastened on or adjacent to one of the light sources. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating an illumination device.
