The apparatus has a refrigerant circuit circulating a refrigerant. A cold storage (107) stores a cooled refrigerant. A valve arrangement (109) supplies the cooled refrigerant to the refrigerant circuit depending on an energy criterion. The valve arrangement is flow-technically connected with a vaporizer (103) of the refrigerant circuit. A refrigerant input (119) of the cold storage is flow-technically switched between a refrigerant input of a control valve (111) and a refrigerant output (113) of the vaporizer. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a cold apparatus.
