System for monitoring and controlling actuatable passage barrier e.g. bollard, has control device allowing closing of barrier only if collision of barrier with objects is precluded in security region

The system has a light lifecycle camera (1) based on photo mixture detection. A security region is determined within a detection range of the camera such that an actuatable passage barrier e.g. bollard, and an adjacent space area in which safety critical objects are expected to be collected are detected. A control device opens or closes the barrier based on operating signals. The control device allows closing of the barrier only if a collision of the barrier with the objects is precluded in the security region. An independent claim is also included for a method for monitoring and controlling an actuatable passage barrier.
