The method involves introducing a building element (2) in a centre region (B3) of an examining device (1) in fluid tight manner so that pressure chambers (1.3, 1.5) are formed in regions (B1, B2) of the examining device. A defined differential pressure is produced between the chambers. A volumetric flow and/or a mass flow of a fluid between the chambers are determined by the building element from the differential pressure. A moisture transport behavior of the building element is determined from the volumetric flow and/or mass flow. An independent claim is also included for an examining device for examining a convective moisture transport in a building element.
