The method involves evacuating water-operated vacuum pump pressure of an outer chamber of an alkaline battery cell and inner surfaces of a housing of the battery cell, where the inner surfaces are accessible for evacuation. The battery cell is lowered into a sea of paraffin oil i.e. white oil, of preset viscosity, and the battery cell is maintained in the sea for all-round wetting of paper plastic or metal parts of the battery cell. The adhered white oil is dripped off or hydro extracted from the battery cell, and the battery cell is charged by a charger during charge maintenance.
