The method involves considering a mode in which speed of a motor car (10) is limited during downhill driving of the motor car. The speed is increased in the mode by activating of an accelerator pedal in such a manner that a different acceleration corresponds to different positions of the accelerator pedal independent of an inclination of a roadway (24). The acceleration is determined with a control element (26) using rotational speed of four wheels (12), where the accelerator pedal is formed as a driving pedal (28) for providing an acceleration in a predetermined mode. An independent claim is also included for a motor car comprising a drive and a brake.
