The method involves cutting a sampling blank from a casting product or a deformed product. The light of the sectional area regarding non-metallic, particularly oxide inclusions is reflected in an optical detection unit. A visual separation of the detected inclusions from the steel matrix is carried by an image analysis procedure. The position of the separated inclusion is determined on the steel surface.
