Aerogel (1) molding comprises: (i) pores smaller than 10 mu m, preferably smaller than 500 nm; (ii) a molding as an organic monolith having a density of 0.10-0.55 g/cm 3, preferably 0.10-0.30 g/cm 3, a flexural strength greater than 0.55 MPa; (iii) a pyrolyzed monolith having a density of 0.10-0.55 g/cm 3, preferably 0.10-0.30 g/cm 3, a flexural strength greater than 0.68 MPa and an effective thermal conductivity less than 0.060 W/(mx K) bar at room temperature and under air at 1.013; and (iv) the molded body having at least a diameter of 10 cm or at least an area of 100 cm 2. Aerogel (1) molding comprises: (i) pores smaller than 10 mu m, preferably smaller than 500 nm; (ii) a molding as an organic monolith having a density of 0.10-0.55 g/cm 3, preferably 0.10-0.30 g/cm 3, a flexural strength greater than 0.55 MPa and an effective thermal conductivity less than 0.040 W/(mx K) at room temperature and under air of 1.013 bar; (iii) a pyrolyzed monolith having a density of 0.10-0.55 g/cm 3, preferably 0.10-0.30 g/cm 3, a flexural strength greater than 0.68 MPa and an effective thermal conductivity less than 0.060 W/(mx K) bar at room temperature and under air at 1.013; and (iv) the molded body having at least a diameter of 10 cm or at least an area of 100 cm 2at a thickness of at least 0.5 cm without cracks. An independent claim is also included for producing aerogel molding, comprising soaking an open pore organic foam (4), preferably a polyurethane-, polyether-, melamine resin- or polyester foam with a resorcinol-formaldehyde solution or a phenol-aldehyde solution, gelling at 20-100[deg] C, and drying at 20-120[deg] C and at approximately 1.013 bar.
